Young turks of design line up for the next fashionSPARK

Next month, fashionSPARK celebrates its fifth anniversary as the most stylish part of the annual SPARKcon local arts showcase. This week, the show’s producers announced the lineup for this year’s event being held Sept. 17 featuring clothing and accessories by local designers.

Featured designers include: Ahpeele, Crystal Pickard, Domino, DRC Clothing Co., Emily Claire Designs, Gabrielle Marie Duggan, Good Girls Studio, Jaclyn Anthony, Jess Pati, Kristen Danielle, Lauren Dana Boynton, Lindsay Kay, LLLavender, Marie Cordella, Mollybeads, Pamor Designs, Payton Alexis Brown, Raleigh Denim, REDO REUSE/Peligrosa Knits, Rima L’Amir, Rocket Betty Designs, Socialite Studios, Street Mode 22, Zac Schell Designs and Zass Design. in City Plaza in downtown Raleigh.

Bailey’s gives a peek

Specializing in colorful gemstone and elegant pearl earrings and necklaces, Villa Cora Gems creates jewelry that works for everyday and special occasions. Friday and Saturday.

Smith uses freshwater keshi pearls and gemstones, such as amethyst, aquamarine and black onyx to handcraft the distinctive pieces.

Bailey’s is at 415 Daniels St., Raleigh. Friday and Saturday. During the show, customers can pre order pieces to ensure they get the look they want in their sizes.

More tax relief

Each year, North Carolina gives shoppers a break with its tax free weekend, which starts Friday and runs through Sunday. Uniquities is giving customers an even bigger break with a full week of tax free shopping at all its stores today through Sunday. And unlike the state, Uniquities doesn’t have minimum or maximum purchase rules the discount is on all purchases.

Shoppers can use those savings on three accessory lines recently added at the stores: Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent Handbags, Gorjana jewelry and Yosi Samra ballet flats. An extension of Cynthia Vincent’s popular line, the Twelfth Street bags feature rich leathers with intricate designs. Gorjana features pieces made of sterling silver dipped in 18K gold, while Yosi Samra flats come in a variety of colors and fabrics, such as metallics and suede.

Bringing sexy to Tar jay

Target’s latest designer collaboration has rock star flair. William Rast, the line by Justin Timberlake and his best friend, designer Trace Ayala, has partnered with the discount retailer to create a limited edition collection that will hit stores Dec. 19. The line will feature premium denim, outerwear and sportswear for men and women.

William Rast’s clothing includes fitted plaid button downs, printed tops, leather jackets and distressed jeans think about the casual, cool outfits you often see Timberlake and his girlfriend, Jessica Biel, wearing. The Target line will include similar looks. It will be available in stores and online through Jan. 22.
